Harm Minimisation Policy
The Lion Foundation (TLF) is acutely aware of its responsibilities and obligations under the Gambling Act 2003 to prevent and minimise harm caused by gambling, including problem gambling.
TLF takes its responsibility and obligations very seriously. TLF and its venue operators have adopted a Harm Minimisation Policy which has been approved by the Department of Internal Affairs. In addition, TLF :
- Makes a substantial annual contribution by way of a Problem Gambling Levy to the Ministry of Health. These funds contribute to the Ministry’s Prevention and Minimisation of Gambling Harm Strategic Plan, which includes public health services, intervention services, research, evaluation and workforce development;
- Actively trains all venue staff to recognise and help problem gamblers; and
- Provides all gaming venues with extensive information and material to assist with the prevention and reduction of harm caused by problem gambling.
