AMBURY PARK CENTRE FOR RIDING THERAPY

You see children from all walks of life at the Ambury Park Centre for Riding Therapy. Children who are disabled, disadvantaged, anti-social and at-risk. Children who often don't respond to adults, yet amazingly, they do respond to a horse. Senior Teacher Glenda McCormack reckons they've seen some outstanding results. "Even the toughest kid often gives their horse a cuddle (when you're not looking of course!)", she says. Then there's the thirteen-year old girl who smiled for the first time in her life when she sat on a horse. And the teenage boy who'd fallen through the system, but has now gained his NCEA in Equine. And that's just some of the many success stories. So when the hard-working team asked us to fund hay for the horses, The Lion Foundation was happy to help. After all, every horse we feed gives more kids the chance to land on their feet.
"Every horse fed by The Lion Foundation is another horse able to have an important impact on a child at our Centre." - Glenda McCormack, Ambury Park Centre for Riding Therapy
