ST JOHN CENTRAL REGION
WHEN IT COMES TO SAVING LIVES, IT HELPS TO HAVE THE LATEST GEAR. SO WHEN ST JOHN CENTRAL REGION NEEDED A NEW AMBULANCE WITH ALL THE LATEST BELLS AND WHISTLES,THE LION FOUNDATION WERE KEEN TO HELP.
It's one tough job, being an ambulance officer. It's also pretty hard on the ambulances. According to Grant Pennycook, the vehicles "get a bit worn out" by 400,000km. Which is what happened last year. Their number one lifesaving unit needed upgrading to a hi-tech new vehicle with the latest medical equipment. But all those bells and whistles don't come cheap, so The Lion Foundation helped out with a grant. Grant and the crews are really chuffed with their new ambulance. "It's a brilliant vehicle. It makes our job so much easier," he reports. Most importantly, it means they're better equipped to save lives.
