THE TEAM AT LAND SEARCH AND RESCUE WANAKA HAS ONE EXTREMELY TOUGH JOB: SAVING LIVES. SO WHEN THEY NEEDED A HAND FUNDING THEIR LOCAL OPERATION, WE CAME TO THE RESCUE.
The terrain around Wanaka is some of the most stunning in the world. It's also some of the most perilous. Luckily, the team at Land Search & Rescue are just as tough as their terrain and save many lives every year. What's more, they do it for love, not money. However, running their 120-strong operation can't be done for free, so The Lion Foundation helped out with a grant last year. Treasurer, Philip Melchior reckons it's made a huge difference. "It's funded training exercises, first aid and specialist equipment," he reports. Which means Philip and his team can get on with the really tough stuff: saving lives.
