$3,941,046 has been returned this month to local communities across New Zealand by The Lion Foundation. The Foundation's broad based funding approach provides funds more widely than any other trust in the country across the categories of Sport, Health, Education and Community, which includes The Arts, Heritage, Culture and the Environment. The Lion Foundation receives hundreds of applications each month from Kiwis who are making a positive difference in their community.
Notable grants this month include support to the YMCA of Christchurch towards two new showers at the emergency shelter, support to West Coast Riding for the Disabled towards lease of operational site, grazing and annual hay supply and finally support to Hikuwai O Kaipara Waka Ama Club towards life jackets and paddles.

The Lion Foundation - March Update

The Lion Foundation receives hundreds of applications each month from Kiwis who are making a positive difference in their community.
Notable grants this month include support towards a new endoscopic camera for the Wellington Zoo, wireless infrastructure and netbooks for Tauranga Girls College, construction and installation of handrails for Melrose Historic House in Nelson, recycling stations for Kaikoura Primary School classrooms and support for New Plymouth Mountain Bikers Club towards building new tracks at Mangamahoe Forest.

Notable grants this month include support to Taupo Tennis for resurfacing of two courts with synthetic grass, support to Project Kiwi Trust towards transmitters, aerial & receiver for Kiwi monitoring. Finally support towards roofing and guttering on the extension to Jack Inglis Friendship Hospital in Motueka.

Notable grants this month include support for The Sir Peter Blake Trust's work in their tenth year toward Leadership Week, support to Tamaki kit e Tonga District for communication equipment to help the important work of Maori Wardens and ongoing support to help the Lifewise Trust for their critically important work in helping those in difficulty.

$5 Million Lion Foundation Emergency Relief

Rescue baby on her way home

Seven weeks after her birth onboard the Lion Foundation Eastland Rescue Helicopter, baby Rererangi Reuben-Poi has been given the all-clear to go home to Hicks Bay.
The now five-pound, seven-ounce little girl earned her name Rererangi – Maori for flying in the sky – after she arrived two months premature on a rescue helicopter flight from Hicks Bay to Gisborne Hospital.
