WE'RE HERE FOR GOOD
The Lion Foundation is one of New Zealand's oldest and most respected Charitable Trusts. In the past 25 years, we've returned over $540 million back to the community, supporting thousands of good causes right around New Zealand.
This year The Lion Foundation has merged with another leading Charitable Trust, the Perry Foundation. This merger will result in more funding for New Zealand communities. "We will maximise the synergies of both Charitable Trusts and continue to support worthy community causes across the spectrum including arts, culture, sports, education and health. Combined efficiencies and reduced administration costs will ultimately mean increased funds to assist even more community groups" - The Lion Foundation Chair Mike Smith.
Originally a family owned and operated Trust, the Perry Foundation has a strong history in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty region. Simon Perry, Chair of the Perry Foundation, says this link will be maintained with the merger. Simon Perry and fellow Perry Foundation Trustees, Ken Williamson and Murray Gutry, have joined The Lion Foundation Board of Trustees.
The Lion Foundation internal philosophy is 'make a difference' and we do. We have many Lion Foundation venues and gaming machines across the country and we consistently return millions of dollars into the community. Last year that equated to over $37 million.

Last year, we approved 3,306 grants for community-based organisations across New Zealand. That's 9 good causes a day. Causes as diverse as the people who live in those communities: from Cape Reinga to Bluff, east coast to west, rural to urban. In fact, there are few Kiwis whose lives haven't been touched by a Lion Foundation grant. Check out who we've helped in your area.
In 2008, The Lion Foundation established a new sister trust called The Lion Foundation 2008. This new trust has the same Board of Trustees and operates under the same Management, Funding policy and stringent processes as the original Lion Foundation Trust.

"We are grateful to the Lion Foundation for its outstanding support over a number of years. Recently this funding has helped us to put new vehicles on the roads and made critical new equipment available - consequently making our vital work more possible" St John Chief Executive Jaimes Wood
