Murray joined The Lion Foundation in July 2013 from the Not For Profit Sector. Previously the Chief Executive of the Voyager Maritime Museum, Murray was also a key part of the leadership team at Eden Park. This followed from a career in the New Zealand Defence Force.
Rachael joined The Lion Foundation in April 2010 having held a number of management positions, most recently within the Auckland Council in Building/Asset Management. Rachael has a Diploma in General & Applied Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies with an HR endorsement. Rachael’s role as People & Performance manager aims to enhance the organisation’s greatest asset, our people. Rachael is married with three children and proudly represents West Auckland.
Alistair joined The Lion Foundation in April 2006 having spent 2-years in the Navy as a Financial Adviser and before that 7-years at SkyCity Auckland as Gaming Machine Performance Manager. His expertise in Gaming Machines is impressive and he likes to test the norm and maximise the gaming experience for players. He is a very passionate person and loves all sports particularly golf.
Marcus joined The Lion Foundation in June 2014 having spent a number of years working in Sports Management and International Trade. He is a qualified lawyer and as the Head of Partnerships acts as the connection between The Lion Foundation grants process and our local communities, working closely with the Board, Regional Grants Committee (RGCs) and the Lion Foundation Operations Team. As a father of two boys Marcus is kept busy, but sneaks in the odd triathlon when time allows.
Emma Lamont-Messer – Compliance & Operations Support Manager
Emma joined The Lion Foundation in May 2013. She has an MA (Hons) and LLB and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in 2002. Emma worked as an Assistant Crown Counsel at Crown Law in Wellington for several years before practising as a barrister. As the Compliance Manager, Emma advises the wider Lion Foundation team on a range of legal, regulatory and licensing issues. Emma also works with the sector’s regulator, the Department of Internal Affairs, to ensure that the organization is meeting its legal obligations.
